The Nut House Pub and Grille makes craft pizzas at 295 S Water St in Kent: Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza, Deluxe Pizza, BBQ Chicken Pizza, and One Topping BYO Pizza. The pub is open 11am to 2:30am on weekdays and from 9am on weekends, so a late pizza is normal.
Pizza is the thing people cross town for here, and the list is short on purpose. Four ways to order: three built pies the kitchen has already argued about, and one you build yourself. All of them come out of the same kitchen that does the wings and the shareables, at a bar that does not close until 2:30am.
Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza is the one to order first if you have never been in. Crispy pepperoni and mozzarella, then a drizzle of hot honey over the top. It is a simple idea executed in the right order, the fat and salt of the pepperoni first, then the sweetness, then the heat arriving a half-second late. It is the pizza that makes people order a second one for the road.
Deluxe Pizza goes the opposite way and refuses to choose. Pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, and mushrooms, all on at once, with bacon in the printed build. It is the pizza for the table that has been arguing about toppings for ten minutes, because everybody's pick is already on it. Heavier than the hot honey pie, and meant to be shared rather than conquered alone.
BBQ Chicken is the change of direction. Grilled chicken, barbecue sauce, red onion and a three-cheese blend — sweeter and smokier than the tomato-based pies, with the red onion cutting through it. If somebody in your group has decided they do not want a classic pizza tonight, this is the one that wins them over.
One Topping BYO Pizza exists for people with a specific pizza in their head. The first topping is in the 14.99, and each one after that is 1.50. It is also the useful option for a group ordering three or four pies and wanting one of them to cover the fussier eaters. Cauliflower crust is 4 dollars more when someone needs it.
Pizza here is pub pizza in the best sense. It belongs on a table with other things happening. A pie in the middle, a plate of jumbo wings next to it, a Bavarian pretzel with stadium mustard somewhere off to the side, and Wisconsin cheese curds that will be gone before the pizza is cut. The branded liners the food lands on are a small thing that tells you the kitchen sends food out the same way every time.
The other reason pizza works at this address is the hour. Kent does not run out of evening quickly, and neither does this room. A pizza ordered late on a Friday is not a problem, a special request or a favour — it is just what the kitchen does, in the same window as everything else on the menu.
There is a fair argument that the shareables exist to be ordered alongside a pizza rather than instead of one. Reuben rolls before Deluxe Pizza make a heavy start and are worth it anyway. Buffalo chicken dip next to BBQ Chicken Pizza doubles down in a way nobody regrets. Grilled artichokes buy the table a few minutes while the kitchen works.
One more thing about ordering pizza in a pub rather than a pizzeria: nobody is turning your table. The seat is yours as long as you want it, the bar is behind you, and the second pizza is a decision you get to make an hour after the first one rather than at the counter.
There are no pizza prices printed on this page, and that is deliberate. The menu data behind this site has not been checked against the list the kitchen is currently printing, so anything quoted here would be a guess dressed up as a fact. The Toast storefront shows current pricing, and so does the menu at the pub.
No standing pizza promotion is recorded in the venue data either, so this page will not advertise one. If something is running on a given night, the bar will know, and @thenuthousepub_ on Instagram is usually where it turns up first.
For a pizza to take away, the Toast storefront linked from this site is the fastest route — build the order, pay, and collect it on Water Street.
For a pizza to eat here, walk in. For anything with timing attached — a pie you want ready at a specific moment, or four of them for a group — call (330) 548-9183 and say so.
Ordering for a group? Give the number of people rather than the number of pies and let the kitchen do the arithmetic.
Doors open at 11am Monday through Friday and 9am on Saturday and Sunday, and the pub runs until 2:30am every night of the week. That covers a weekday lunch pizza, an after-work pizza, a during-the-game pizza and a considerably later one.
The quietest pizza is an early weekday afternoon. The busiest is a weekend night. If you want the pie fast rather than the room full, aim for the first of those.
The 9am weekend opening is the outlier most people miss. Pizza is not usually a nine-in-the-morning proposition, but the room is open and the kitchen is there if it is yours.
